Principal's Weekly Letter

April 25th, 2025

This week at ELS

I pray that everyone had a blessed extended weekend as you celebrated our Risen Lord on Easter Sunday.

This week was filled with two themes:  MAP Testing and May Day.  I saw all classes hard at work as we complete our 3rd session of MAP testing and lots of rehearsals and practicing for performances next Friday.  The annual Band Trip is also taking place as I type this letter.  Around 20 of our 6th-8th students are traveling to ‘Oahu to perform with some students from Our Redeemer and Trinity this evening.  Looking forward to seeing our ELS ‘Ohana at our May Day celebration next Friday (a few more details are provided below).

Tuition Balances

As we approach the last month of school, please check your FACTS account to ensure all balances are paid in full by Friday, May 23rd. Your child will not be able to start the new school year if there is a balance from the previous school year.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp registration has been opened to the public but space is still available.  Please contact Mrs. Davenport or refer to the website for more information.

Chapel Offerings

Our Chapel offerings for the 4th quarter will again go to Branch Lutheran School.  To date we have collected $194.73 to support their “Food Fund”.

Golf Tournament - PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!

This week we were able to add a number of new sponsors and players!  We’ve still got a long way to go.

Please consider sponsoring a hole, recruiting players, making a prize donation (gift cards are great prizes) or volunteering.

Staff Update

I am pleased to inform you that Mrs. Melissa Hosch will be teaching 2nd Grade next year.  Mrs. Hosch has been working at Kihei Charter since arriving to Maui but is excited to join us at ELS!  Below is a short bio.  We look forward to having Mrs. Hosch as a part of our staff next year.

Melissa Hosch

Melissa Hosch is originally from Kansas.  She graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS with a BS in Technology in 2004.  This is where she met Eddie Hosch (our Pastor at ELS) and they got married in 2003.  Melissa and Eddie have two children, Lexi age 19 and Joe age 16.

Melissa has worked in elementary education for over 10 years in many different roles within the classroom and is super excited to be teaching second grade next year.  She is ready to bring her experience and love for teaching into her new role and join the Emmanuel Lutheran School family.

More Bios on new staff to come next week!
