Principal's Weekly Letter - Jan. 2

Aloha ELS ‘Ohana,

Our Winter Break is nearly finished!  Happy New Year!

I hope and pray that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Christmas break with loved ones.

Remember that there are NO CLASSES this Monday.  This will be a teacher work day.  We will resume classes on Tuesday January 6th, 2026!  

Just a few items to note:

• FIELD UPDATE

  • You will see that our field is about ⅔ black top right now.  This is just temporary.  The final surfacing will take place over Spring Break.  We will use all FUN RUN this year to help fund this project.  Over the summer the grass area will also be updated.  The final result will be an outdoor space with a near regulation basketball court, a regulation volleyball court, a regulation pickleball space, and grass/turf area for other games.
    

• RE-ENROLLMENT

  • The Priority Window for RE-ENROLLMENT will begin on Tuesday January 6th.  All of our current classes currently have 20 or more students (with 4 currently at max capacity).  We anticipate close to full enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year.  Current Families will have until February 13th to secure enrollment before we open availability to new families.  Please finish your re-enrollment ASAP.  We will begin new student testing in January and promptly fill available space in our classes.  
    

• LUNCH

  • Just a reminder that lunch order will now be placed through the school office.  Please check with Mrs. Cambra for the monthly and weekly deadlines to get lunches ordered for your student.
    

• Calendar Items

  • January 6th - Classes Resume - Start of 3rd Quarter

    • Priority Window for Enrollment will begin this week

    • All information will be emailed as soon as we return from Christmas Break

  • January 19th - Dr. Martin Luther King Day - No School

  • January 12th-23rd - MAP testing - Winter Session

  • January 24 - RUMMAGE SALE - Band Fundraiser

  • January 26th - 30th - SPIRIT WEEK (aka Lutheran Schools Week)

    • Monday - Pajama Day 

    • Tuesday - Jersey Day 

    • Wednesday - “Swap” Day - Teachers dress like students/Students dress like teachers 

    • Thursday - Multiples Day (Twins/Triplets)

    • Friday - Spirit Week Shirt

    • More information on Spirit Week activities to come after the break.
