Principal's Weekly Letter - Sept. 19

Updated: Sep 25

September 12, 2025

Week 7 Highlights

Preschoolers enjoyed Scholastic News, center play, and story time. Kindergarteners went on a library field trip and worked on getting their library cards!  First graders were enjoying snacks when I stopped by early in the day and later they were laser focused writing complete sentences. The second grade welcomed two new students and an afternoon aide. Third graders began Lesson 27 and practiced math fact speed drills. They were also super excited for the Blookit competition where they worked writing sentences correctly!  Fourth graders had a Punky Aloha kind of Friday.  They also dove into algebra, working to find missing values in subtraction problems. Fifth graders explored similes, metaphors, and future perfect and past perfect tenses. Sixth graders studied the causes of earthquakes as it relates to the  tectonic plates. Seventh graders learned about hydraulic forces, and Eighth graders worked through questions on a history study guide as they prepped for a test.

Lunch Update

The October Lunch order is now available!  Please check the website for more information.

You can order for the entire year, month or simply go a week at a time.  The monthly and yearly options are available with a pretty significant discount.  Just a reminder that refunds will not be offered.  Simply Local also has an EveryDay Menu available.  These options can be ordered instead if your child does not prefer the school lunch option.  Take a look at the prices and options on the website.

Fall Camp Deadline

We currently have 15 signed up.  We will move forward with the offering but we would love to see  20 campers get signed up.  The deadline for registration is Tuesday September 23rd (5:00pm).

Pumpkin Fest

Shift Sign-Ups will be available by next Friday September 26th.  There are a lot of ways for you to help this event be a success.

  1. Shift Volunteers

  2. Mystery Box Donations

  3. Class Baskets - Each class will have a themed basket up for sale in the mini silent auction room.  Classroom teachers will let you know what the theme is and collect the donations.

  4. Last but not least we will again have a Fall Festival Plant Sale (with some student artwork being featured as well).  We are currently reaching out to local nurseries for donations and will need some parent volunteers.  Be on the lookout next week for some information from Rhonda Felix who will be leading this charge.
