School Closure - Friday, Sept 25

Aloha ELS Ohana,

We have spent the morning monitoring the weather and discussing our decision for tomorrow.  From what we can tell, Friday looks to be in the “cone of uncertainty”.  There could be light rain and wind.  There could be heavy storms and heavy winds.  This uncertainty makes a decision quite difficult.  

We reached out to other private schools on the island (Maui Christian, Seabury, St. Anthony, etc.). They have all decided to close tomorrow, as travel could become more difficult by the afternoon. Having 200+ students at school with the potential of losing power or facing heavy storms during the day is not worth the risk. We are grateful for the collaboration and conversation with our fellow Maui schools.

With that in mind, ELS will be closed tomorrow, Friday, September 25th.

We hope that the timing of this decision allows you to make necessary adjustments to schedules.  

We are still planning to hold the 7th/8th grade Children’s Sunday Service at 9:00 AM on September 27th. We pray that the weather remains mild and that everyone stays safe.
