Principal's Weekly Letter - Aug. 29

Aloha ELS Families,

Week 4 Highlights

Preschool welcomed some new friends, listened to a guest reader, and had fun during play time. Kindergarteners worked with the letter "F" and showed excellent handwriting. First graders used coins as they practiced place value.  They made some interesting observations about what’s on the penny as well. Second graders practiced telling time on analog clocks and counting by 5s. Third graders answered Language Arts questions and took the memory quiz. Fourth graders focused on daily math lessons. Fifth graders worked in small groups on a math investigation. Sixth and seventh graders were busy with Language Arts writing assignments. Eighth graders continued the time honored tradition of getting snacks at Minit Stop (after finishing their math lessons, of course).

Harm to Student Registry (This will be the last week)

This will be the last week.  Thank you for helping us meet this requirement.  If another family member or friend happens to be on campus for something involving students, please just have them stop in the office to finish this brief protocol.  We have reached 265 responses to the Harm to Student Registry. Feel free to share for a family member (click here) and we can quickly add their name to the registry.

Chapel Offerings - Quarter 1

Our chapel offerings for the 1st quarter will go to Mission Of Christ Network.  Last Friday Micah Willweber visited and spent some time talking with the students about his upcoming 2 year mission.  We are glad to be able to support him as he shares the good news about Jesus in another part of the world.  Chapel Offerings to date are $275.27.  The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran will also join us in support of this mission.

Calendar Dates

  • September 1st - No School - Labor Day

  • September 26th - Movie Night - Hosted by Emmanuel Lutheran Church

  • September 21st and 28th - 5th-8th Grade Sunday

    • 9 AM Service

    • Click Here to select a Sunday for your 5th-8th grade student.  This will help Mrs. Fletcher plan accordingly.

    • We do not wish or intend to make this “mandatory”. We understand that many of you are active in your own congregations and sometimes Children’s Sunday at Emmanuel may have conflict.  We would very much appreciate families making an effort to attend.  Choir directors work very hard to prepare songs and practice during the school week.  In addition, it is a nice way to say “thank you” to members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and their continued support of our school.

  • October 24th - Fall Festival

    • Formerly known as Pumpkin Fest.  We will begin distributing information about this community event next week.  We look forward to having food trucks, games, booths for local vendors, the country store and more… More information to come!

Lunch Program

We are still working with our vendor for pricing and options.  The process was delayed for reasons that were out of our control.  If we are unable to reach terms with this company, we have a back up plan and will have a final decision by September 8th.  Please know that we are working diligently to provide lunch options for our families.  Thank you for your patience.

Enjoy the 3 day weekend!  Remember, NO SCHOOL MONDAY!

God’s Blessings,

Mr. Rempfer
