Aloha ELS families,
Principal’s Note
This week certainly had a few somber moments. Obviously, the anniversary of September 11th is something many of us recall and can remember exactly where we were. Our prayers go out to the families who were affected by that devastating event. In addition, there were some random acts of violence and hate that made headlines this week. More prayers go out to the victims' families and loved ones. With news and information at our fingertips, I encourage you to be aware of your student's devices. Images and videos can be very disturbing. Middle school teachers had some very heartfelt discussions with kids this week. In the midst of tragedy, we can still find joy in Jesus and His saving work. I read a devotion this week with the words from an old hymn. The words were a great reminder of our firm foundation.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
in every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand:
all other ground is sinking sand.
Week 5 Highlights
PS - I stopped in to hear their beautiful voices singing Forrest Frank’s song “Your Way’s Better”. It has been a real chapel hit this year. I also saw some great work with numbers and counting. Kindergarten heard the story of Moses at Bible time and worked on some sorting during another visit. 1st graders were doing a challenging lesson with fact families. They had to decide which math sentence did not belong. 2nd graders completed a bird feeder project. 3rd Grade and 7th grade were both working on 5 A Day (Grammar) lessons when I walked in. 4th graders were practicing times tables with a Kahoot challenge. 5th graders worked up quite a sweat during PE. 6th graders turned in and presented the Science Projects. I was impressed with the information and the level of detail. 8th graders finished up a chapter on cellular respiration and got some test returned!! It was a busy week at ELS.
Middle School Sundays
We have 49 responses. With many siblings included in this number, this likely covers close to 60 students. This means we need about 30 more RSVP’s. Please respond by Thursday, September 18th. This will help Mrs. Fletcher plan accordingly. Please click here to select the Sunday that works best for your schedule.
Japan Trip = DIPPIN DOTS!!
One of the most common ways money was raised for the Japan Trip was through some simple food sale fundraisers. DIPPIN DOTS was a hit and IT'S BACK!! On Wednesday from 1:00-1:45 Dippin Dots will be sold right outside the 8th grade classroom. The cost is $5. Last year many classes simply dismissed a little early and enjoyed dippin dot while waiting for pick up. It did slow pick up a little bit so be patient on Wednesday. :)

We hope to have the Volunteer Signup Form ready by September 19th.
I have already talked to a few people about Mystery Box donations. Woohoo!
Country Store and Class Basket Donation details will be sent on September 22nd.
Last but not least we will again have a Fall Festival Plant Sale (with some student artwork being featured as well). We are currently reaching out to local nurseries for donations and will need some parent volunteers. Be on the lookout for some information from Rhonda Felix who will be leading this charge.
Here’s to the Fall Festival 2025 being another successful event!
Lunch Program
We decided to end our partnership with MyHotLunchBox. The response time was not what we had hoped for. Instead we will be partnering with Simply Local. We are proud to work with a local company and were very impressed by their customer service. They extended ordering hours for next week until Saturday 5:00pm. Please give them a call!!
After School Care/Fall Camp
Just a reminder that on October 2nd and October 16th there is no E+ on those early dismissal days. In addition we WILL be offering FALL Camp this year October 6th-10th. Please reach out to Mrs. Davenport for more information.
God’s Blessings,
Mr. Rempfer
