  • Fine Arts Night This Friday!

May 14th, 2025 Aloha ELS Families, I just wanted to provide a little more detail about Friday night.  This is our first attempt at a Fine Arts Night.  We wanted to do something in lieu of a school musical this year. Please have students wear Aloha attire or their Sunday best. Like a Christmas Concert or a Musical, we are asking that all students be here for their scheduled performances.  I realize that prior commitments exist.  Please do your best to have your student here for their performance.  For 5th-8th grade students, scheduled performances are a part of their Choir grade.  Simply not wanting to sing is not valid for an excused absence :)  This will be the final choir performance of the year.   You DO NOT have to be here the entire evening.  The classrooms will be open from 5:00-6:30 for you to look at artwork and projects.  Performances will take place in the church (5:30-7:00).  Each choir/band will perform a song or two.  We are not trying to gather everyone in the chapel at once, simply families of the group that is performing.  Some chairs will be provided but it will be mostly standing room to watch your child sing or play their instrument. We would like food to be dropped off between 5:00-5:30 so we can have people eating from 5:30-6:30. Last Name - A-K - Please bring a main dish to share Last Name - L-Z  - Please bring a side dish or dessert to share Utensils and Water will be provided. We invite you to bring chairs and blankets to relax outside when your child is not performing.  Enjoy some food and talk story with school families. Please do not allow students to go into classrooms unattended or use the playground downstairs.  Teachers will be busy gathering students for performances and monitoring classrooms.   We hope to return to the MACC in the future for Spring Musicals.  The cost of the facility has increased, so we decided to take a year off (that and Mrs. Fletcher, our director, had another baby).   Looking forward to some fun and fellowship on Friday evening! In the event of inclement weather, we will make a decision about the Pā’ina.  If it is raining, we will determine the best course of action. Mr. Rempfer

  • 2nd Grade Market

Aloha ELS ‘Ohana! The 2nd Grade class would like to invite our fellow ELS students to shop at our 2nd Grade Market THIS FRIDAY!   They have worked hard to create small businesses that will be selling different products at our market.  Please consider sending your child to school on Friday with a dollar or two to spend and support our small businesses!

April 11th, 2025 I’d like to give a big SHOUT OUT to the 3rd and 4th grade choir.  We had 34 students who were able to make it on Sunday and they sang beautifully.  Thank you to our teachers (Ms. Bradshaw/Ms. Reynolds) and choir directors (Mrs. Kaio/Mrs. Kahalewai)  for preparing them so well.  Thank you also to Ms. Omura for providing some refreshments after church.     This week at ELS This week buzzed with activity across all grades! Our youngest learners in PS enjoyed an exciting trip to the FIRE station. We also had some family visits from future kindergarteners. Kindergarteners shifted their focus from long "a" to long "i" sounds, while first grade diligently reviewed their Language Arts skills. Second graders demonstrated their financial prowess, tallying cents and dollars like future accountants. Third grade artists created stunning butterfly artwork and continued their Language Arts center work. Fourth grade students reflected on the significance of Palm Sunday in their religion class. Fifth grade buckled down for test preparation and review. Sixth grade earned points towards their next mall trip and explored the relationships between fractions, decimals, and percentages. Finally, our eighth graders dove headfirst into a comprehensive Geometry unit, tackling surface area and volume calculations for prisms, cylinders, cones, and cubes, and seventh graders mastered exponent rules and patterns. MYBL Leif Sjostrand (Mrs. Sjostrand’s husband) runs the Maui Youth Basketball League.  He asked me to share this with school families interested in getting students involved.  Take a look!  Sign up end soon.  Sorry for the late notice.  http://Bit.ly/cmybl Chapel Offerings Our Chapel offerings for the 4th quarter will again go to Branch Lutheran School.  We have supported their mission and ministry for several years.  This year our money will go to their “Food Fund”.  They provide meals every day to over 1300 children!  All donations from Emmanuel Lutheran will buy large quantities of rice and beans as well as snacks to students and orphans in Port-au-Prince.  The total collected to date is $63.60.  I would love  VBS (repeat from last week) Emmanuel Lutheran Church is looking for volunteers to guide kids on the ultimate Alaskan adventure where northern lights glow over majestic mountains, racing rivers, and glistening glaciers.
