March 7th, 2025 In the Classroom It was a busy four day week at week ELS…. The sounds of preparation for an upcoming band contest were heard throughout the campus. Middle school students got to visit with local business owners and entrepreneurs from the community. I saw younger students enjoying their reading groups with older classes. We celebrated Ash Wednesday together, remembering the sacrifice that is made for us. I have been impressed with the growth I’ve heard this year. We had a tremendous accreditation visit on Tuesday. The visiting team provided some helpful information for our next visit. They were also very complimentary of many of the things they saw at our school. Thank you to the students and parents who were able to take some time to share with the team. Thank you to our staff for welcoming them and showing them what it’s like to spend a day at Emmanuel Lutheran. Lastly, basketball practices have started and games begin tomorrow! One more week until Spring Break! Re-Enroll ASAP for 2025-2026 School Year We have sent numerous enrollment applications to new families these past few weeks. Many classes have filled up for next year. If you did not complete your enrollment but would still like to do so, please contact Mrs. Cambra. If we do not hear from you and class fills up, you will be placed on the waitlist. SPACE AVAILABLE Kindergarten Testing will take place on March 31st. We still have testing spaces available for kindergarten. Please share with families that may be interested in Kindergarten for next year. While a number of our preschool families choose to attend ELS for kindergarten, we still need new families to fill our kindergarten class. February 28, 2025 We DID IT!! For the 5th year in a row we reached our goal, ($51,921 to be exact). Thank you for the unbelievable support year after year. These funds are helping ELS in so many ways. We have purchased computer carts for nearly every classroom. We have added some needed shade in preschool and in front of the modulars. We have re-sodded the field (I know this was not as effective as we had hoped). This year we need to purchase new furniture for some of our middle school classrooms (new tables/lockers). This week we just found out the need to replace two AC units. We are also looking into bids for a new field. Long story short, your generous donations help us take care of so many needed things on our campus, things that are not always planned for in our school budget. Congratulations to the 3rd Graders who edged out 2nd grade by just $5! And, to Zeke and Hannah Kondo who tallied the highest individual totals! AMAZING! In the Classroom On Monday of this week we welcomed lots of new prospective students during our Preschool Observation. Kindergarteners were able to go to the HUB (local business owned by one of our parents) and do some neat artwork. 1st graders were busy with reading groups when I stopped in the teacher workroom. 2nd graders were doing some speed Math Drills. 3rd Graders were busy with reading and excited to hear the news that they were the class leaders for the FUN RUN! 4th Graders started their study on the book of Philippians while 5th graders were hearing the story of Daniel. 6th graders had to deal with a room that had no AC for a few days but not to worry it will be replaced on Wednesday!! Thankfully the E+ room was available for the CPR lesson this afternoon. 7th graders learned about the division of the North and South and events leading to the Civil War. 8th graders were studying conditions that were best for mold to thrive. Hopefully no one found their tests and threw them in the garbage. Re-Enroll ASAP for 2025-2026 School Year New Student Testing has started and many of our classes are already full for the 2025-2026 school year. If you need to finish your re-enrollment of the 2025-2026 please do so as soon as possible. The deadline for Financial Aid is March 17th. February 14th, 2025 This week at ELS This week at ELS was a relatively normal week of school. Today was a little festive with lots of Valentine’s activities, treats, and gifts. Ms. Bradshaw reminded us on Wednesday during chapel that God’s love for us is truly the greatest treasure. Preschoolers did a kindergarten visit. We absolutely love seeing our preschool students move on and join us for kindergarten. They were being great listeners when I stopped in to say hi! Kindergarteners got to take a mini field trip and enjoy their snacktime in a new place. 1st graders took a field trip to the Botanical Gardens. 2nd graders worked on some STEM projects. I took a few 3rd graders for lunch for their raffle wins! 4th graders studied different types of volcanic structures. 5th graders sang beautifully during chapel. 6th graders are working on planet presentations for Science. 7th graders started a new novel in Language Arts and 8th graders used graphing calculators to solve systems of equations and inequalities. Re-Enroll ASAP for 2025-2026 School Year - 4 More Days for the priority window. Finish your Re-Enrollment ASAP! On Tuesday February 18th, I will begin testing applicants from our waiting lists. All the information you need can be found HERE . If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to call the school office. Chapel Offerings Our offerings for the 3rd quarter are over $400. Please share this link or QR with families. If you are listed as a referral we will send a small gift as a token of our appreciation. Thank you for your support. February 21st - 5th Annual Fun Run With 1 week remaining we have crossed the $34,000 mark! If we get to 100% participation we will easily reach our goal. This is amazing! Thank you so much for your continued support. The kindergarten class is still in the lead but 5th grade is right on the heels! Funds this year will help update some of our classroom furniture. New desks and tables are costly (especially shipping to Maui). We are always exploring ways to improve our field. With wear and tear from daily use by over 200 students the sod installed in 2023 has not held up. Field turf would help keep our campus looking brighter and less muddy. That said, the cost is significant. With your help we can make some great improvements to our campus. Remember that next Friday we will dismiss at 1:30 and there will not be after school care. The Lanai looked a little better this week and the classrooms were noticeably cleaner. Please continue to use the sidewalks and walkways that have grass. It helps to keep the mud out of our classrooms. Happy Valentine's Day! Have a great 3 day weekend. Mr. Rempfer

February 7th, 2025 This week at ELS With a little bit of a washout last week, Spirit Week rolled into February. Middle Schoolers competed against each other in a variety of ways, culminating in the 5th Annual Lip Sync Battle. For the 5th year in a row, the 8th grade won the Spirit Week Championship. I assure you that there is no bias among judges. ;) We also honored our January Students of the Month. Check out the website and social media for some great photos. 4th graders presented some of their own work as well as some classic poems as the final part of their poetry unit. Thank you to all the parents who came to support their children this week. On Wednesday we closed with the raffle drawing and students walked away with some great prizes while Ms. Bradshaw walked away covered in slime. Friday closed with the Ram Bowl. The Chiefs won in an OT thriller, we’ll see if the real Chiefs follow suit. Next week, we will get back into the regular rhythm and routine of a regular school week. Thanks to who made Spirit Week 2025 another huge success! We’ve got Spirit, yes we do, we’ve got Spirit, how ‘bout you! 🙂 Re-Enroll ASAP for 2025-2026 School Year There are 10 days remaining for the re-enrollment priority window and classes are filling up. On February 17th, we will begin testing new students and taking enrollees who are currently on our waitlist. All the information you need can be found HERE . RE-ENROLL ASAP! If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to call the school office. Chapel Offerings Our offerings for the 2nd quarter are over $350. Thank you! We will send all 3rd Quarter offerings to the Pacific Southwest District to be used for the California fires. Calendar Dates February 17th - No School - Presidents Day February 20th - Open House 5:30-7:00 Prior to COVID, Emmanuel Lutheran held an annual Open House evening. Dinner was provided, new families had a chance to see classrooms, and some current parents shared about their experience at ELS. This evening was for all new families but most specifically geared toward families interested in joining our kindergarten. For the past two years, we had a simple informal Open House. This year we would like to return to something that was very successful in the past. How can you help? Well, I’m glad you asked. Quite simply, please share this with others. You can share a social media post, give a flyer, or just tell someone you know. When families RSVP for the evening, ask them to list you as a referral and we will send you a “Thank you” with a gift certificate. Please see the flyer below or click here for some more information about the evening. The QR code provides a google form that can be used to RSVP. February 21st - 5th Annual Fun Run We are halfway there! With nearly 40% participation we have just reached the $25,000 mark! With 100% participation, we will be able to reach our school goal of $50,000.00. Donations can be made online to your child's page. They will also be collected in the office and credited to the corresponding student account. Prizes will be distributed each Friday. MAHALO for a great start this week! School will dismiss at 1:30 on the 21st. After school care will not be available. February 24th - Preschool Observation Day (new applicants) - No regularly scheduled preschool classes. March 2nd - Preschool Children’s Sunday - 9:00 AM March 4th - Accreditation Team Onsite - HAIS (Hawaii Association of Independent Schools) March 17th-28th - Spring Break Spring day camp registration is now open for 2 weeks. Week 1 - full-time $180 Week 2 - holiday week $150 Daily drop in $40 Hours 7:30-5:00 Email Mrs Davenport what dates you will need. eplus@elcs-maui.org Morning Drop Off The dirt being tracked into the classroom the past few weeks is becoming a little bit of a problem. Some of this is simply unavoidable from recess and PE. Please try to use the sidewalks in the morning when the field is wet/damp. In addition, if K-2 students can use the ramp I think we can minimize a little field traffic first thing in the AM. I will monitor for a few weeks. It may not solve the problem, but I feel like we need to try something. Thanks for your help. Have a restful weekend! Mr. Rempfer

- School Closed Tomorrow!
I was planning to wait until the morning to assess the weather situation. That being said, I know planning for a school closure the night before is much easier than doing it at 6:00am. We will not have school tomorrow Friday January 31st. We pray that everyone stays safe and we are able to avoid the worst. We look forward to clearer skies on Monday. Mahalo for understanding. Mr. Rempfer
