Aloha ELS Families, Week 4 Highlights Preschool welcomed some new friends, listened to a guest reader, and had fun during play time. Kindergarteners worked with the letter "F" and showed excellent handwriting. First graders used coins as they practiced place value. They made some interesting observations about what’s on the penny as well. Second graders practiced telling time on analog clocks and counting by 5s. Third graders answered Language Arts questions and took the memory quiz. Fourth graders focused on daily math lessons. Fifth graders worked in small groups on a math investigation. Sixth and seventh graders were busy with Language Arts writing assignments. Eighth graders continued the time honored tradition of getting snacks at Minit Stop (after finishing their math lessons, of course). Harm to Student Registry (This will be the last week) This will be the last week. Thank you for helping us meet this requirement. If another family member or friend happens to be on campus for something involving students, please just have them stop in the office to finish this brief protocol. We have reached 265 responses to the Harm to Student Registry. Feel free to share for a family member ( click here ) and we can quickly add their name to the registry. Chapel Offerings - Quarter 1 Our chapel offerings for the 1st quarter will go to Mission Of Christ Network. Last Friday a missionary visited and spent some time talking with the students about his upcoming 2 year mission. We are glad to be able to support him as he shares the good news about Jesus in another part of the world. Chapel Offerings to date are $275.27. The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran will also join us in support of this mission. Calendar Dates September 1st - No School - Labor Day September 26th - Movie Night - Hosted by Emmanuel Lutheran Church Movie Night Flyer Please RSVP using the QR Code September 21st and 28th - 5th-8th Grade Sunday 9 AM Service Click Here to select a Sunday for your 5th-8th grade student. This will help Mrs. Fletcher plan accordingly. We do not wish or intend to make this “mandatory”. We understand that many of you are active in your own congregations and sometimes Children’s Sunday at Emmanuel may have conflict. We would very much appreciate families making an effort to attend. Choir directors work very hard to prepare songs and practice during the school week. In addition, it is a nice way to say “thank you” to members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and their continued support of our school. October 24th - Fall Festival Formerly known as Pumpkin Fest. We will begin distributing information about this community event next week. We look forward to having food trucks, games, booths for local vendors, the country store and more… More information to come! Lunch Program We are still working with our vendor for pricing and options. The process was delayed for reasons that were out of our control. If we are unable to reach terms with this company, we have a back up plan and will have a final decision by September 8th. Please know that we are working diligently to provide lunch options for our families. Thank you for your patience. Enjoy the 3 day weekend! Remember, NO SCHOOL MONDAY! God’s Blessings, Mr. Rempfer

Aloha ELS Families, Week 5 Highlights PS - students were looking through books, listening when teachers read to them, and counting to 10. When I stopped in Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade I saw something similar in all the classes - Language Arts Centers - Students were writing, practicing sentence structure, proper grammar, reading, and typing. It was pretty impressive to see students moving from task to task while teachers and aides worked with individual students and small groups. 4th, 5th, 6th were all busy with math assignments working through story problems and setting up equations correctly. 7th graders were studying events leading up to the Civil War, specifically the Emancipation Proclamation. 8th graders were practicing their memory verses for chapel (they knocked it out of the park this week). Last but certainly not least congratulations to our SOTM (Students of the Month) for August. The theme for August was Hoihi (Respect). The recipients were as follows: K - Rhett Amano, 1 - Theo Watson, 2 - Naomi Modster, 3 - Hezekiah Baz, 4 - Poi Kapuni, 5 - Pierce Berlien, 6 - Raye Arnoldy, 7 - Brayden Gushiken, and 8 - Lexie McKee. We took off for 2 years due to COVID. We are calling it the Fall Festival this year instead of Pumpkin Fest. Getting Pumpkins has proved to be a little more difficult than it used to be. :) Not to worry there will be lots of games for the kids, 4 Local Food Truck Vendors, the Country Store (of course), the Fall Festival Flower/Plant Shop, Picture Booths, Music, and most importantly the chance to spend time together with the community. Ways to Help Volunteer Sign Ups will be ready soon. Fall Festival Flowers Committee (reach out to me and I will put you in contact with the right person) Mystery Box Donations - If you have friends or family living on the mainland or abroad, encourage them to donate a “Mystery Box”. Reach out to me or Ms. Omura if you have any Mystery Box questions. Mystery Boxes can be dropped off at Preschool or Main Office. Country Store and Class Basket Donations - Our country store is filled with homemade goodies from our School Community. In addition to Mystery Boxes Class Baskets will be a part of the Silent Auction. Each class will have a themed basket available for bid. *More information to come! Here’s to the Fall Festival 2025 being another successful event! Lunch Program Good News! We have made progress with our vendors. You will be able to order student lunches very soon. September 12th, 2025 Aloha ELS families, Principal’s Note This week certainly had a few somber moments. Obviously, the anniversary of September 11th is something many of us recall and can remember exactly where we were. Our prayers go out to the families who were affected by that devastating event. In addition, there were some random acts of violence and hate that made headlines this week. More prayers go out to the victims' families and loved ones. With news and information at our fingertips, I encourage you to be aware of your student's devices. Images and videos can be very disturbing. Middle school teachers had some very heartfelt discussions with kids this week. In the midst of tragedy, we can still find joy in Jesus and His saving work. I read a devotion this week with the words from an old hymn. The words were a great reminder of our firm foundation. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; in every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand: all other ground is sinking sand. Week 5 Highlights PS - I stopped in to hear their beautiful voices singing Forrest Frank’s song “Your Way’s Better”. It has been a real chapel hit this year. I also saw some great work with numbers and counting. Kindergarten heard the story of Moses at Bible time and worked on some sorting during another visit. 1st graders were doing a challenging lesson with fact families. They had to decide which math sentence did not belong. 2nd graders completed a bird feeder project. 3rd Grade and 7th grade were both working on 5 A Day (Grammar) lessons when I walked in. 4th graders were practicing times tables with a Kahoot challenge. 5th graders worked up quite a sweat during PE. 6th graders turned in and presented the Science Projects. I was impressed with the information and the level of detail. 8th graders finished up a chapter on cellular respiration and got some test returned!! It was a busy week at ELS. Middle School Sundays We have 49 responses. With many siblings included in this number, this likely covers close to 60 students. This means we need about 30 more RSVP’s. Please respond by Thursday, September 18th. This will help Mrs. Fletcher plan accordingly. Please click here to select the Sunday that works best for your schedule. Japan Trip = DIPPIN DOTS!! One of the most common ways money was raised for the Japan Trip was through some simple food sale fundraisers. DIPPIN DOTS was a hit and IT'S BACK!! On Wednesday from 1:00-1:45 Dippin Dots will be sold right outside the 8th grade classroom. The cost is $5. Last year many classes simply dismissed a little early and enjoyed dippin dot while waiting for pick up. It did slow pick up a little bit so be patient on Wednesday. :) Harm to Student Registry Please click here to enter your information if you have not done so already. School Pictures School Pictures will be sent home TODAY!!! Absentee and retake photos will be done at Nagamine Studios on Wednesday, October 1st between 2:00-3:30pm by appointment only . New Students, as well as students who were absent or need a retake, must be photographed on this day. Parents please call the studio at 808-244-3636 to book an appointment. If your child will be retaking their photo you must return the original packet and the cost will be $5. School Pictures School Pictures will be sent home TODAY!!! If you missed picture day or need a retake. Please call Nagamine and get your picture scheduled. Our make-up day is October 1st. Chapel Offerings - Quarter 1 Q1 Chapel Offerings - $449.96. We are glad to be able to support a missionary as he shares the good news about Jesus in another part of the world. Calendar Dates September 21st - 5th-8th - Children’s Sunday #1 Sunday School Invite September 26th - Movie Night - Hosted by Emmanuel Lutheran Church Movie Night Flyer Please RSVP using the QR Code September 28th - 5th-8th - Children' s Sunday #2 October 1st - School Picture Retakes October 2nd - Early Dismissals (K-8 - 1:30 and PS - 11:30) October 3rd - 12th - Fall Break October 16th - 1:30 Dismissal (PTC 2:00-7:00) October 17th - No School (PTC 8:00 - 12:00) PTC Sign-Ups will be available on September 24th for families with multiple children and September 29th for the remainder of the student body. October 24th - Fall Festival Fall Festival We hope to have the Volunteer Signup Form ready by September 19th. I have already talked to a few people about Mystery Box donations. Woohoo! Country Store and Class Basket Donation details will be sent on September 22nd. Last but not least we will again have a Fall Festival Plant Sale (with some student artwork being featured as well). We are currently reaching out to local nurseries for donations and will need some parent volunteers. Be on the lookout for some information from Rhonda Felix who will be leading this charge. Here’s to the Fall Festival 2025 being another successful event! Lunch Program We decided to end our partnership with MyHotLunchBox. The response time was not what we had hoped for. Instead we will be partnering with Simply Local. We are proud to work with a local company and were very impressed by their customer service. They extended ordering hours for next week until Saturday 5:00pm. Please give them a call!! ELS Lunch Program Information After School Care/Fall Camp Just a reminder that on October 2nd and October 16th there is no E+ on those early dismissal days. In addition we WILL be offering FALL Camp this year October 6th-10th. Please reach out to Mrs. Davenport for more information. God’s Blessings, Mr. Rempfer
